Predicting the weather, describing turbulent fluid flows, and many other feedback systems, such as those that affect themselves, require solving nonlinear differential equations. But we cannot and will never be able to solve them with the existing methods, regardless of the power of computers. Two research teams from the University of Maryland and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have proposed efficient approaches to solving nonlinear problems using quantum computers.
